Overview
The Welfare of Children and Youth Association (WCYA) is deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every child. Our Child Protection Program is a cornerstone of our work, designed to prevent and respond to all forms of child abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
We believe that every child has the right to a safe and nurturing environment, free from harm. Through a comprehensive approach that encompasses prevention, intervention, and advocacy, we strive to build a protective network around children and empower them to thrive.
Our focus centers on creating awareness, promoting children’s participation, strengthening community capacity, and providing direct support to vulnerable children. We collaborate with families, community groups, schools, community leaders, government agencies, other CSOs, INGOs, and DPs to establish community-owned child protection mechanisms.
Our goal: Create a society where children are valued, protected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
- Key Components
Prevention & Awareness
We organize and lead community-based awareness campaigns aimed at educating children, parents, and caregivers on the importance of child rights, the protection laws that safeguard them, and the critical dangers of abuse and exploitation. Our efforts include providing accessible information about legal frameworks, child safety, and the various forms of exploitation that children may face. Through workshops, seminars, and local outreach initiatives, we empower communities to recognize, prevent, and address child abuse, while fostering an environment that ensures the safety and well-being of every child
Capacity Building
We offer comprehensive training programs for community members, children and youth groups, as well as professionals, focusing on child protection best practices. These trainings cover essential skills such as active listening, identifying signs of abuse, reporting procedures, and effective responses to child abuse cases. By equipping individuals and organizations with the knowledge and tools to act responsibly, we aim to create a safer environment for children, where their rights are upheld and any form of abuse is swiftly addressed.
Capacity Building
We offer comprehensive training programs for community members, children and youth groups, as well as professionals, focusing on child protection best practices. We provide comprehensive support to children who have experienced abuse, offering psychosocial counseling to help them heal emotionally, legal assistance to ensure their rights are protected, and referrals to safe shelters where they can find protection and care. Our goal is to ensure that every child who faces abuse receives the necessary resources and guidance to overcome their trauma and rebuild their lives in a safe environment.
Case Management &Family Strengthening
We collaborate closely with relevant agencies to design and implement comprehensive and efficient case management systems that ensure children receive timely, appropriate, and tailored support. Our approach includes rigorous case monitoring to guarantee that the needs of the children are met effectively, and that no child is left without the necessary resources for their well-being and development.
In addition, we work hand-in-hand with families to strengthen their capacity in providing safe, nurturing, and supportive environments for their children. This involves offering specialized training in parenting skills, empowering families with the knowledge and tools to foster healthy relationships and positive growth for their children. When necessary, we also provide economic support to ensure that families can meet their financial needs, ultimately creating a stable foundation for the children to thrive.
